Job Details

SMHS is seeking a Sr. Research Associate, REDCap to apply advanced clinical knowledge of related information
systems. Reporting to the Vice President for Research and Department of Information Technology the Sr. Research Associate, REDCap and is responsible for participating in new installation and ongoing technical
support and user education to staff and faculty researchers that utilize REDCap – a global, HIPAA compliant electronic data capture system. The role will act as the primary user expert for the SMHS
faculty and first responder to user inquiries and questions by solving or escalating issues to senior staff. Additionally, the role will work to build and disseminate end-user education and training materials,
including hosting office hours, training sessions, and presentations.

Essential Duties:
Reviews projects for proper user and role configurations to ensure security compliance
Determines data management and research workflow support needs for research coordinators and researchers and provide or coordinate solutions
Performs testing to ensure functionality of new features
Provides assistance in the direct integration of technology into research protocols and projects
Assists with installation and testing of software upgrades and new features
Maintains list of open queries with researchers and communicate list to group in weekly meetings
Builds relationships with end-users / labs / groups as point-of-contact for technical assistance with REDCap
Develops and maintains REDCap technology advancements through community lists, publications and
conferences
Maintains a sound understanding of Clinical trial data management (eg Vanderbilt Coursera course incorporates REDCap)
Serves as the point of access to the REDCap system; Fully leverages the system’s capabilities through function design in support of clinical research studies, and ensures data integrity and quality
Facilitates research studies through analysis, cleaning, integrating, and building of data sets; Ensures data sets are built in a way they will respond correctly for analysis
Provides guidance to researchers in the building of their data sets
Provides regulatory guidance to physicians and clinical investigators and advises how to manage data and private health records
Ensures PHI and HIPPA compliance
Develops, delivers, and maintains SMHS-specific REDCap policies and systems training
Coordinates and facilitates regular audit activities
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position
