POSITION DESCRIPTION: Full-time professional exempt staff position with full benefits. The Coordinator for Bike Shop & Adventure Trips has major responsibility for managing the RecWell Adventure Program’s bike shop and equipment rental desk and assists with the supervision and administration of student-led adventure trips. Specific responsibilities include, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising 10-15 student bike mechanics and 7-10 student rental desk employees, leading monthly staff meetings, facilitating staff development session, co-instructing the academic course “Foundations and Applications of Adventure Leadership Instruction” with the Assistant Director of the Adventure Program, managing the trips and rental equipment, and managing the retail program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have, as a minimum: a Bachelor’s degree, one year of experience supervising and training others, at least two years of experience leading outdoor adventure activities (e.g. rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, backpacking, caving, mountain biking, etc.), knowledge of basic bike maintenance (e.g. bike safety inspections, changing a flat tire, lubricating a chain, adjusting brake tension, derailleur adjustments, etc.), and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion and student development through programming, mentoring, or training.

Preferred: Master’s degree in recreation management, outdoor leadership, environmental education, higher education, or related field. Experience supervising college student personnel. Knowledge of CSI software or comparable point of sale systems. Proficient with bike maintenance (including more advanced skills like disc brakes, wheel building, headset replacement, etc.). Current Wilderness First Responder and American Red Cross CPR instructor certification. Industry certifications such as ACA instructor, LNT Master Educator, swiftwater rescue, Bike Instructor Certification Program, etc.

START DATE: May 1, 2019 (negotiable)

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience, the range is $56,000-$61,000.

BENEFITS: 22 days annual leave, 14 paid holidays, 3 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave; University contributions to health insurance and retirement plans; tuition remission.
