Specialized experience: is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Specialized experience for the GS-12 includes at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-11 level in the Federal service or equivalent in the private sector. Specialized experience includes: Performing a wide variety of analysis and studies of personnel security risk management, advising management on personnel security policies and reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating reports of investigation, personnel files, and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, revoke, suspend, or restrict security clearances consistent with national security and/or suitability issues.
Specialized experience for the GS-11 includes at least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level in the Federal service or equivalent in the private sector. Specialized experience includes: Advising management on personnel security policies and reviewing, evaluating, and adjudicating reports of investigation, personnel files, and other records to determine whether to grant, deny, revoke, suspend, or restrict security clearances consistent with national security and/or suitability issues.
Qualifying on Education for the GS-11
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or
LL.M., [all graduate education must be related to the duties of the position]
An applicant that has a Fundamentals of Suitability for Suitability and Fitness Adjudicators and/or Essentials of Suitability Adjudication Certification is preferred.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has demonstrated knowledge and expertise involving organization and/or government security, and possesses sound security management fundamentals. The ideal candidate has strong analytical, writing and communication skills and can manage projects and work cooperatively with stakeholders to improve security programs.
