Summary: Responsible for designing and implementing comprehensive communications and marketing, as well as creating and managing special events for Ivymount Corporation and supported organizations including Ivymount School Inc. (Ivymount School and The Maddux School) and Outreach Programs Inc. (Outreach Program and Endeavors).

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications & Marketing

  • Establish broad recognition of and attention to Ivymount Programs and activities
    • Develop, execute, and analyze communications and marketing plans and related strategies
    • Develop and manage media partnerships and strategic industry relationships
    • Proactively identify networking opportunities and visibility opportunities to grow profile of Ivymount Programs and its leadership team
    • Organize effective, on-target media campaigns
    • Ensure the use of innovative and creative print materials, videos, and websites
  • Ensure communications and marketing strategies compliment the activities and goals of the Development Department
  • Establish and maintain a style guide to describe and define what the Ivymount brand will look like across various media, including print, website, social media, internal/external communications
  • Ensure communications and marketing content/message is well written, consistent, and reflective of our unique mission and history
  • Manage news flow and execute consistent messaging across Ivymount websites, social media, and external communications
  • Establish and expand our social media presence
  • Responsible for Ivymount websites
    • Spearhead website redesign (e.g., internal needs assessment, vendor selection, oversight of transition)
    • Create and maintain Ivymount websites (e.g., oversight of content management, accessibility, efficient site navigation and functionality)
    • Monitor and improve web traffic
  • Work with internal teams and manage outside agencies, as necessary, to develop marketing/advertising materials, including recruitment materials, while maintaining brand integrity

Special Events

  • Plan, implement and manage special events including Foundation and Maddux galas, fundraising events, recognition and stewardship events, and other events as assigned
  • Work closely with the Development Department, boards and volunteers to plan, market and execute fundraising and stewardship events
  • Work closely with Ivymount Programs to plan, communicate and execute annual and special events (e.g., graduation, Outreach Showcase, Resource Fair, community breakfast)
  • Manage webpage development for special events
  • Manage special events databases
  • Participate in developing informative and creative solicitation, recognition and event materials

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Seven years of experience in communications, marketing, and special events work in an educational setting or other non-profit organization
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex messages to a diverse constituency
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks and maintaining a positive attitude in a sometimes demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work as a team member and supervise department employees and volunteers
  • High comfort level with social media and technology
  • Ability to effectively utilize database systems within a data-driven and evidence-based organization
  • Focused, outgoing self-starter with leadership and supervision experience
  • Polished, professional personal presentation and superior interpersonal skills
  • Stature to work as a peer alongside widely recognized educators and researchers
  • Creative approach to developing programs and events
  • Willingness to work outside of “normal” business hours during peak periods and during special events
  • Deep-seated respect for the dignity and potential of all students in a special education environment
