Prior to the start date, the student must provide an official set of school transcripts. Individuals must meet the qualifications and eligibility requirements throughout the duration of the appointment and are required to provide up-to-date transcripts (unofficial are acceptable) at the end of each trimester, semester, or quarter, which include grades for the previous term, unless requested more frequently by the supervisor or HR office for verification of enrollment and academic standing as proof of continued eligibility for participation in the program. Students who fail to meet and maintain eligibility requirements may result in termination.

NH-1 Student Trainee Positions
Completion of 1 full academic year of post-high school study.
DAWIA: Some of those hired into student internship positions may be required to complete a level 1 certification in the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) program. DAWIA training requires the completion of online non-resident Defense Acquisition University (DAU) courses and in some cases resident DAU courses. Various levels of experience must be met in order to qualify for certification in the DAWIA program. For some higher level certifications there is a positive education requirement (e.g., 24 credit hours of business courses). THIS IS A DIRECT HIRE ANNOUNCEMENT. Section 1106 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017 and Direct-Hire Authority FRN Vol. 82, No. 216 dated 11 /9/17 authorizes the Secretary of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified Post-Secondary Students directly to acquisition workforce positions or non-acquisition workforce positions that spend at least 51 percent of work time supporting the acquisition workforce in the competitive service for Professional and Administrative occupations within the Department of Defense (DoD). Competitive rating and ranking of applicants do not apply to the Direct Hire process.
This is a developmental position that is subject to the rules regarding the Accelerated Compensation for Developmental Positions program (FR, Vol. 82, No. 216, pp. 52104 - 52172, dtd 9 Nov 2017).
CONVERSION: Post-Secondary students on Term appointments may be non-competitively converted to a permanent appointments upon completion of all academic program requirements.
