Overview Alban CAT, the Caterpillar dealer for the mid-Atlantic Region is accepting applications for a Shop Technician III, Commerical Engine for our Elkridge branch. Responsibilities The Shop Technician III, Commercial Engine is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing electrical generator systems and related engine failures along with Caterpillar and non-Caterpillar Marine and Industrial equipment. Troubleshoots complex operational failures of generator sets, Marine gear and industrial and gas engines and determines corrective action through the inspection of failed parts. Uses reactive or resistive load bank equipment for the testing and repairs of generators. Performs heavy electrical repairs, alignments and engine overhauls to engine, generator, components and alternator R & I and Marine gear R & I. Installs and commissions large gensets with complex ATS. Performs megger, vibration, stack and span gas testing as requires. Prepares parts requisitions and returns, documents and submits service reports and other forms, maintains work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment. Performs various other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have experience diagnosing, troubleshooting and repairing complex issues and performing heavy electrical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment. Must be a Certified Marine Analyst. Must have experience diagnosing and troubleshooting advanced electrical Tier IV issues with Marine and Industrial equipment and control systems preferred. Must have experience installing and commissioning large gensets with complex ATS. Must have experience performing megger, vibration and stack and span testing. Must be able to perform vibration analysis for electronic controls. Must have excellent verbal, written and customer service skills and a valid driver's license. Must be able to work with no supervision.
