We are currently seeking two (2) Biologists with Immunology and Viral Pathogenesis Expertise to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.OVERVIEW. The contractor shall: Perform serological assays including ELISA and neutralization assays Perform molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning and qRT-PCR Produce and purify proteins using transient transfection of mammalian cells Culture and maintain cell lines and primary cell cultures Independently and collaboratively plan, develop, and implement experiments and protocols. Work and communicate with a team of scientists in the Viral Pathogenesis Laboratory Train staff and others on the methods and procedures used in the laboratory. Locate and review literature pertinent to projects and to identify/modify the most applicable protocols and methods for experiments. Develop methods for and collect, organize and record experimental data suitable for publication. Correspond with and develop collaborations with other laboratories in developing new methodology and expanding current research projects. Attend conferences, meetings, and lectures on subjects of relevance to the research program. Trouble shoot assays and adjust scientific methodology to correct problems or deficiencies in a research project, experiment, or trial. Maintain accurate laboratory records to ensure proper retention of scientific data REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have: Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline. Three (3) years of experience in biology or a related field. Demonstrates experience working in a laboratory environment. Demonstrates knowledge of maintaining accurate and detailed records.
