The Utility/Civil Inspector will be responsible for visual inspections of overhead electrical equipment and component installations. RESPONSIBILITES: Inspect areas such as cable pulling, aerial construction, grounding, terminating cable, restoration and site-safety related aspects The position will include conducting environmental compliance inspections and completing daily inspection reports on active construction projects in overhead transmission projects Inspection of heavy-duty composite matting systems Take pictures and/or video to accompany the completed inspection form to show type of inspection as well as identifying any deviations found Using a list of projects provided, inspector will perform a random sample of inspections. Using company provided standards, procedures and prints, ensure that all company standards and procedures are followed Attend all company sponsored meetings and training Maintaining a presence at work sites, reporting findings to Engineers and/or Project Managers Assisting the project team with problem solving techniques Participation in a safety culture in a construction setting Understanding the importance of complying with environmental requirements The position will involve daily travel to project sites and will require the candidate to possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. (MD, DE, NJ, PA and DC) The position will involve working outdoors year-round, often in remote locations and inclement weather Ability to read and understand civil and electrical design drawings Detailed knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control Practices and environmental Best Management Practices 7+ Years' experience in overhead transmission lines EDUCATION: High School Diploma Required 2-year Technical Degree with an emphasis in engineering, mathematics and the basic sciences and 1 year of related heavy construction experience or 5 years of electrical construction experience Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field is preferred
