Department Marketing Statement:

WMATA is seeking an SCCM engineer to join our endpoint management team. The endpoint management team supports an environment of over 7000 computing devices across various Windows and MacOS operating system platforms. The endpoint management team also supports over 4000 mobile devices.

The successful candidate will have multiple years of hands-on professional experience administering and managing SCCM 2012 and SCCM 2016 to support Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. The candidate should have demonstrable experience utilizing SCOM, SCCM and MDTK to secure, support, and deploy Windows operating systems. The candidate should have multiple years of experience with all Windows Server versions ranging from 2003 to 2016. The candidate should also have experience integrating MDM tools (MaaS360, AirWatch or InTune) with an SCCM based environment.

Job activities include (but are not limited to):

    Developing solutions and repeatable processes for meeting user endpoint needs Evaluating the latest in technology to determine what solutions can best be deployed for our users Supporting Tier 2 and 3 staff in resolving user issues and developing solutions they can implement without escalation Serving as a knowledge resource for our user community in regards to general computer use and best practices. Deploying applications to users through SCCM or other tools Developing solutions that integrate the SCCM tools with other systems including asset management, Active Directory, and service catalog.
Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.  Four (4) years of experience with the latest versions of Microsoft SMS, MOM (and/or equivalent technologies) and one (1) year with the latest versions of Microsoft SCCM and SCOM (or equivalent technologies) and one (1) year experience with Microsoft WSUS.  A solid working knowledge of Microsoft platform products, including Windows 2003/2008 and higher server operating systems.  Solid experience with Windows XP/7 and higher desktop operating systems.  Hands-on experience with desktop imaging, software deployment and inventory management.

Or a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered if candidate can effectively demonstrate at least eight (8) years of experience with the latest versions of Microsoft SMS, MOM (and/or equivalent technologies), two (2) years with the latest versions of Microsoft SCCM and SCOM (and/or equivalent technologies) and one (1) year experience with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).  Possess a solid working knowledge of Microsoft platform products, including Windows 2003/2008 and higher server operating systems.  Solid experience with Windows XP/7 and higher desktop operating systems.  Hands-on experience with desktop imaging, software deployment and inventory management.

License:

IT certifications in the technologies pertaining to this position are desirable.

Job Summary/Duties:

This highly technical position is responsible for delivering the latest Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Operations Management (SCOM/MOM) and/or equivalent configuration management and operations management technologies support in a 24x7x365 enterprise environment.  This position involves evaluation, design, and upgrading of several technologies used to create, manage, update, monitor, and report on configurations applied to Windows desktop computers, servers and end-user devices.  This position requires both broad and deep technology knowledge and the ability to architect a solution by mapping a business problem to an end-to-end technology solution.  The incumbent diagnoses and corrects performance problems.

Packages, tests, updates and deploys the latest versions of applications, using WMATA’s enterprise configuration management and operations management technologies.

Implements desktop and end-point image management and deployment, using WMATA’s enterprise configuration management and operations management technologies.

Develops scripts, using industry standard scripting environments for desktop and server configuration and operations management.

Troubleshoots, designs and implements solutions, using WMATA’s enterprise configuration management and operations management technologies.

Generates reports, using WMATA’s enterprise configuration management and deployment technologies.

Manages mobile devices and applies configuration management and operations management technologies towards mobile platform.

Maintains hardware and software inventory and ensures licensing compliance.

Coordinates the delivery and deployment of Microsoft security patches to production data center server environment.

Tunes WMATA’s enterprise configuration management and deployment technologies, adjusting overrides and building new rules and operations monitors.

Resolves agent issues.

Plans for and recommends upgrades, using WMATA’s enterprise configuration management, operations management and deployment technologies.

Works with Tier 1 and Tier 2 Help Desk support staff. 

Analyzes, isolates and resolves customer issues.

Performs proactive monitoring, configuration management and fault resolution.

Directs interaction with customers on desktop configuration issues.

Escalates issues to immediate management.

Maintains workloads, detailing each case with notes of steps taken.

Performs any other delegated duties considered appropriate in order to maintain the efficient operation of the department.

Develops policies and procedures for managing systems configuration, using WMATA’s enterprise configuration management, operation management and deployment technologies.

Provides 24/7 on-call support as needed.

Supports server hardware installation and configuration.

Configures and manages network resources to ensure access to desktop devices as well as other devices, including smartphones and tablets.

Make technology infusion recommendations and upgrade enterprise configuration management and operations management technologies.

Provides recommendations for technology infusion and enterprise configuration management and operations management technology upgrades.

Assists team members with a variety of technologies.

Participates in daily operations and acts as a backup for peer technical staff.
