The Biostatistics Center is an off-campus research facility of The George Washington University located in Rockville, Maryland. The Biostatistics Center serves as the coordinating center for large scale multi-center clinical trials and epidemiological studies funded by federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health. A Senior Research Assistant works within the research team that serves as the Coordinating Center for large multi-center studies in type 2 diabetes; The Glycemia Reduction Approaches In Diabetes: A Comparative Effectiveness Study (GRADE). This position provides technical and research support, maintains study documents, performs data quality checks, prepares reports, implements monitoring systems, and conducts training for study staff. The Senior Research Assistant also liaisons with subcommittees and working groups and interact with programmers to develop study reports. The individual is a proactive critical thinker with strong communication, technical and organizational skills.

Essential job duties include:

- Writes the manual of definitions and procedures for conduct of assessments and collection of research data and creates study forms as required.
Performs database management, data editing and auditing for study data; reviews, in detail, SAS logs and reconciliation tables.
-Programs tables and figures needed for study reports, as required.
- Assists with preparation of study monitoring reports.
-Serves as study webmaster and primary contact for website design, content management, and technical support.
-Handles the configuration and setup for monitoring systems and development of system reports.
-Participates in BSC committees pertaining to data management system and website development. Works with programmers and developers to maintain and test new features of the web-based data management system.
-Conducts and assists with research study staff training.
-Interacts with members of the research study group as well as the local coordinating center team; communicates with study site research staff to answer questions and solve problems either individually or in collaboration with colleagues; provide prompt, complete resolution and follow through. Conducts assessment of site issues for resolution.
-Communicates with the BSC Systems Support staff and administrative staff relating to systems and administrative details as needed.
- Participates in staff meetings, as well as in research study group meetings that may require travel.
-Assists with acquisition and distribution of research study materials, including interacting with vendors as needed.
- Maintains study documents and documentation of changes; assists with final study documentation and archival.
-Performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a BA/BS and 1 year of experience in a related discipline. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
