    This is a Term Appointment, initial appointment is not to exceed 2 years with the possibility of extension.

    A trial period may be required.

    This position is ELIGIBLE for telework; additional criteria will be required (e.g., supervisory approval).

    This is a BARGAINING unit position.

    Minimum Education Requirement:

    Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.

    OR

    Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.

    Specialized Experience: For the GG-09, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Experience reviewing or analyzing data from censuses or large-scale social science or demographic surveys. Experience using statistical software packages. Experience using statistical research to prepare a report or presentation. Experience planning and executing projects or programs with rigid deadlines.

    OR

    Education: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree

    Specialized Experience: For the GG-11, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-09 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Experience planning, strategizing, identifying, researching, and formally documenting requirements and/or specifications for a large program. Experience in measuring and ensuring compliance with quality standards for data collection, processing, analysis, or dissemination activities. Experience reviewing or analyzing data from censuses or large-scale social science or demographic surveys. Experience communicating complex and technical program information in person and to a variety of audiences. Experience writing professional publications or official documents. Experience in monitoring projects and developing project plans and schedules.

    OR

    Education: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

    Specialized Experience: For the GG-12, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: Experience planning, strategizing, identifying, researching, and formally documenting requirements and/or specifications for a large program. Experience in measuring and ensuring compliance with quality standards for data collection, processing, analysis, or dissemination activities. Experience reviewing or analyzing data from censuses or large-scale social science or demographic surveys. Experience communicating complex and technical program information in person and to a variety of audiences. Experience writing professional publications or official documents. Experience in leading a team, setting priorities, and managing multiple simultaneous activities.  This includes soliciting input from team members, and providing technical advice and instruction. Experience in monitoring projects and developing project plans and schedules.

    Education: Education may not be substituted for experience at this grade level.
