The National Guard's full-time support program requires that all military technicians are members of the National Guard and are appointed to full-time positions which correspond to their military assignments. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership.
Minimum Military Rank: E-4/SPC
Maximum Military Rank: E-6/SSG
Compatible Military Assignments: 36, 42A
Other requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within One (1) year of appointment.

General Experience:All series personnel must be certified at the next higher level before being eligible for that level and must have a minimum of one year on-the-job experience in the grade immediately below the next higher level. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade.
FOR GS-09: To qualify for the GS-0560-09 position, the candidate must be eligible for entry into the position's financial management certification career program based on the position's GS-grade and/or the candidate's military rank before final approval and appointment is processed. A candidate must have at least Twelve (12) months of finance budget experiences and competencies that provided knowledge of financial principles and procedures. Candidate must have a good understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the National Guard financial budget business program requirements. A candidate must have experiences and training that demonstrate the abilities to follow directions, to read, retain, and understand a variety of instructions, regulations, policies and procedures. As a condition of continued employment in the GS-0560-09 position, dependent on the position's certification level and contingent on the employee's military rank, the employee must complete the higher financial management certification within 24 months of appointment to the position.?

Army National Guard Enlisted GS-07 through GS-11 Positions
Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An under-graduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: To qualify for GS-0560 dual status technician positions on the basis of completed undergraduate or graduate education, the college degree education must be in one of -or- be a combination of the following required disciplines: Accounting, business, finance, economics, industrial management, marketing, quantitative methods, or organizational management. Technician applicants, who completed the Army or the Air Force Financial Technical School course and were awarded the applicable and compatible military skills, are considered minimally qualified for the GS-07 or GS-09 entry-level position.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATION CAREER LEVELS
The financial management certification requirements will vary for the GS-0560 positions dependent on the employees' military ranks and the complexity of the positions' financial management supervisory and non-supervisory business programs.
The GS-0560 dual status technician employees are not retained in their positions if they fail to complete their positions' higher financial management certifications, as determined by the incumbents' ranks and the positions' GS-grades.
