The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Graphic Designer to join the team in the Office of Marketing and Communications. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. The school is consistently ranked among the world’s top business schools by leading business publications such as Business Week, Financial Times, Economist and the Wall Street Journal.
The Graphic Designer produces compelling visual content that inspires and informs prospective students of the Smith School. Working under the supervision of the Creative Director, the graphic designer manages design projects and produces original visual content for the school. Duties include occasional photography and videography.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in design, art, illustration, or related field. At least 3 years of experience in design in a marketing or communications context. The ideal candidate will have a portfolio of beautiful, creative, thoughtful projects across a variety of media. Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio; ability to communicate concepts and complex information with infographics. Ability to identify/understand client needs and design solutions with high visual impact; mastery of industry leading software, including the Adobe Suite; ability to work within a wide range of media. Professionalism regarding client time, budgets and deadlines; basic knowledge of journalism standards, including Associated Press style; ability to manage deadlines and work well in a highly diverse team environment. Preferred Qualifications: Particularly interested in expertise with creating infographics.
