Lead Behavioral Health Case Manager Serves as the leader of the Behavioral Health Case Managers (to include the Behavioral Health Consult Case Manager and ED Behavioral Health Case Managers) under the direction of the Social Work Manager. Responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the patient's plan of care from admission to post discharge to include utilization review. He/She will utilize critical thinking skills and the principles of Case Management to coordinate and implement a discharge plan that meets the patient's needs and ensures a seamless, safe and efficient transition of care across the continuum.: Education/Qualification Must be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or meet the minimum qualifications of a Qualified Mental Health Professional with a graduate degree in psychology, social work, another mental health related field and be licensed by the District of Columbia. Must demonstrate excellence in verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate leadership skills and organization skills. Minimum of five years' experience with at least two years' experience including adult mental health assessment specific to psychiatric emergency and evaluation as a routine job function. Skills Strong background of case management /discharge planning as it relates to the mental health population. Understanding of Multiaxial DSM diagnosis Understanding or ability to learn of District of Columbia involuntary psychiatric hospitalization procedures Advanced clinical assessment and therapy skills Knowledge and familiarity with public and private community mental health and chemical dependency treatment resources and financial reimbursement Knowledge of reimbursement systems, the ability to educate patients and families regarding payer requirements/coverage for inpatient and post-hospital services and the ability to effectively advocate on behalf of the patient and obtain insurance authorization Ability to multi-task, reprioritize as the situation demands and work in a high pressure, rapid-paced emergency department environment Strong clinical documentation skills Advanced knowledge/skills of social work and systems theory Knowledge of regulations, laws and policies impacting the service delivery of mental health treatment in an acute care hospital setting Time Management Skills Effective communication skills, both verbal and written Effective interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities This opportunity offers the following: Challenging and rewarding work environment Growth and Development Opportunities within UHS and its Subsidiaries Competitive Compensation Excellent Medical, Dental, Vision and Prescription Drug Plan 401k plan with company match One of the nation's largest and most respected hospital companies, Universal Health Services, Inc.
