GERBER GROUP is seeking a General Manager to join the team! Hospitality industry leader, Gerber Group, encompasses iconic venues under such brands as Whiskey Blue, Irvington, Kingside, The Roof, Mr. Purple, The Campbell Bar, and Taco Electrico in NYC. Now, Gerber Group is expanding into DC, more specifically, opening a property in The InterContinental DC The Wharf, and is looking to add passionate, talented individuals to the growing, Gerber Group team! Responsibilities Operations Management Be accountable for all facets of the operation including the following: Perform shift walk throughs in order to assess staffing, maintenance, cleanliness, zoning and any special needs Master computer register front and back of the house operations Master all job functions of the property front and back of the house Master use of equipment and utensils related to the operation Manage atmosphere of the property including lighting, music, and temperature levels Manage all inventory and equipment including identifying needs, communicating to appropriate individuals for ordering, maintenance, or repair, ensuring adequate par levels, and documenting accordingly on computer register system, etc. on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis as needed Maintain clean and orderly work areas throughout shift and leave it ready for business for the following shift Financial Management Oversee and assume responsibility for all financial aspects of the operation including the following: Master all financial procedures Verify all daily sales transactions Make bank deposits based off a corporate approved schedule Authorize comps and voids for service personnel Review sales data and make appropriate adjustments Develop strategies to control costs People Management Develop management team and all employees in areas including personal growth, operational and financial knowledge and skills, interpersonal skills, teamwork, and organizational techniques Create effective work schedules for appropriate staff Create agenda and conduct periodic management meetings and assist with reviewing and amending the agenda for shift service meetings to be conducted by shift supervisor Schedule, conduct and document employee reviews according to standing operating procedure Identify, address and document individual employee discipline problems according to standing operating procedure Manage employees in a fair and equitable manner Guest Relations Management Address guest complaints and problems effectively and courteously on an as needed basis Confirm guest reservations to forecast guest count and ensure smooth shift operation Determine when to and proceed to discontinue liquor service to an intoxicated guest while advising co-workers on how to responsibly handle situation Establish a rapport with guests to promote good will and solicit opinions and ideas Compliance Assure Compliance with and uphold applicable policies and requirements of employment laws and Gerber Group policy and procedure including following: Complete opening sanitation checklist, assign sanitation projects to hourly staff, and adhere to sanitation guidelines as prescribed by standing state and city codes Maintain quality standards including consistency and presentation Ensure proper storage according to standing operating procedures Adhere to standing zoning procedures Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure safety Reporting Document appropriate information in Management Log Book/Software Programs and review daily Read appropriate Intercompany Memorandums Review pertinent Rating Reports and make appropriate adjustment. Complete a daily labor report according to standing operating procedure Recruitment Interview, hire, document, and train new front of the house employees General Complete projects as assigned in a timely manner Communicate problems to appropriate supervisor and/or managers immediately Attend appropriate management meetings and periodic informational meetings Research current industry trends and effect changes accordingly Cultivate personal growth and entrepreneurial skills based on reviews and feedback from supervisors. Maintain a well-manicured appearance and persona that reflects the established image of the company Who we are looking for The ideal candidate is a hardworking and organized individual who thinks creatively. Must communicate effectively in all mediums and at a quick pace. He or she should enjoy solving problems in a high pressure environment. Organization and time management skills are vital. A background in hospitality management is required. Requirements: 2 years of hospitality management experience in a full service operation or the equivalent Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Computer functions in general Expertise knowledge of POS (Point of Sale) systems Must be willing and able to: Complete and obtain Alcohol Awareness Training and proper document of state and city sanitation certificate Complete management training program Stand and/or walk an entire shift Safely transport items, weighing up to 30 pounds, throughout areas of operation on a slick and uneven surface and stairs where applicable Perform in limited physical space with variable ventilation, smoke and extreme temperatures Work a variable and flexible schedule which may include nights, weekends and holidays.
