Ashley Addiction Treatment has an immediate opening for a Peer Recover Coach. This professional provides non-clinical services intended to aid patients in establishing recovery from persistent mental illness and /or substance use disorder and works with the assigned program's treatment team to provide peer support. Essential Functions: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by Peer Recovery Coaches. They are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified. Duties related to a mental health/substance use disorders Conduct screening interviews and administer surveys to assess early presentation of problems to the clinical service. Gather historical information using structured interviews related to past mental health or substance use problems. Act as a peer support throughout the hospitalization and post-discharge, if hospitalization is necessary. Model coping techniques and self-help strategies. Identify patient's readiness to change and use motivational interviewing techniques and other communication skills to support a plan for treatment engagement and reducing or eliminating harmful drug and/or alcohol use in the case of a substance use disorder. Connecting to Community Resources Gather information about patient's access to existing community support services and facilitates connections to services when needed. Assist patient and family with understanding how to utilize these community support services. Assist patients in linking to community support services, mental health and substance treatment services including securing appointment and transportation. Provide family members with recovery support materials. Provide telephone outreach to patients to assist with linkages and continued peer support. Develop a social service network with city, state or other governmental services that serve the needs of the assigned patient population, to assist patients in obtaining such services as, food stamps and other financial supports as well as assistance in obtaining transitional housing. Team educator/Recovery Facilitator Act as a resource to other clinical team members on recovery support. Consult with nursing staff, social work, and other team members as needed to facilitate addressing the needs of the client. Work in collaboration with patient's treatment team to ensure that patient receives appropriate and timely Recovery focused interventions. Provide outreach services including calling treatment providers to verify patient compliance; and follow-up by calling any patient that misses an appointment. Provide resource for sober supports based on the patient's personal choices. Team Member Participation Participate in trainings to continually learn. Attend required staff and other meetings. Complete required documentation and other reports to facilitate accurate data reporting in the program. Documentation Document appropriate information from screenings, individual contacts, family interventions and discharge planning according to department policy and procedures and State, Federal, and Joint Commission stipulated requirements. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with hospital and departmental policy and professional standards. May accompany patients to obtain benefits, entitlement or other services. Career Development Seek self-improvement through use of supervision, peer consultation, or other methods to develop therapeutic knowledge and skills.Participate in the training and education of allied health professionals in the hospital and/or in the community. HIPAA - Personal Health Information Protects personally identifiable health information; adheres to release of information per policy and procedure (written, oral and electronic). Respects patients and all customer groups' privacy and confidentiality. Adheres to IT and business related communications confidentiality policies. Disclaimer Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or GED is preferred. The candidate must be actively engaged in his/her own recovery program with a minimum of two years demonstrated personal recovery in managing their mental illness and sustained recovery from a substance use disorder. Eligible for the Certification as a Peer Recovery Coach in the State of Virginia and complete training and certification within the first year of employment.
