  • Incumbent is required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and is subject to random drug testing for the duration of service with DoD OIG.
  • Current DoD civilian employees are not required to submit to drug testing if moving from one Testing Designated Position (TDP) to another with no break in service, unless deemed appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
  • If you have not previously completed a probationary period with the federal government in a similar position, you will be required to serve a two-year probationary period.

  • You must meet the minimum qualification requirements as stated in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Operating Manual,Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/Standards/group-stds/gs-prof.asp.

    Basic Requirement: A degree in accounting or in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses. (The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.)

    OR

    A qualifying combination of education and experience: 4 years of accounting experience or a combination of accounting experience, college level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge AND 24 semester hours in accounting/auditing courses (the 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law) or a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor.

    Applicant must have at least 52 weeks of specialized experience at the GS-13 or equivalent level.

    Specialized experience is defined as: supervising, leading or serving as a project manager of teams performing complex audits. Integrating organizational missions into team strategies; informing assigned teams on milestones, program issues and deadlines; oversight of audit planning and execution; providing advice on work methods, practices, procedures, and assists teams in practical solutions; leading, monitoring status and progress of work adhering to deadlines and ensuring quality standards are met and determining corrective action recommendations.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helpsbuild critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. Youwill receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.


    Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
