KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Some examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
    1) Experience in writing a variety of articles, blogs, press releases, talking points, press guidance, and speeches to convey information and clarify programs/activities to specialized audiences and the general public;
    2) Participating in campaigns to convey complex information on specific activities, achievements, and other programs;
    3) Drafting/implementing communication plans and developing responses to information requests from the media and interested public in written and oral form; and
    4) Establishing/maintaining working relationships with a variety of audiences (such as the media, print, and broadcast reporters, members of Congress and their staffs, and the internal/external stakeholders and clients).

    Only experience and education obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    This job does not have an education qualification requirement.

    Telework Suitability:
    The duties of this position are suitable for occasional telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval and if they meet the eligibility criterion in the 2010 Telework Act.

    Stipulations of Employment:
    Selection may require completion of a 1-year probationary period.

    Work Schedule:
    This position allows for a flexible work schedule.
