Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
- Implementing policy and procedures related to a safety and occupational health program.
- Scheduling and completing audits to evaluate safety and occupational health program compliance.
- Identifying safety risks to the agency mission and recommending program changes.
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
Physical Demands:
Occasional TDY is necessary in the accomplishment of the safety and health mission and associated functions. On site inspections at MSC/Region facilities and administrative office spaces imposes physical demands of standing, walking, lifting, bending, crouching and climbing (i.e., climbing ladders on bulk fuel storage tanks).
Work Environment:
The work is usually performed in an office setting; however, during on-site inspection of facilities may involve regular and recurrent exposures to flammable vapors, confined spaces, high ladders, adverse weather conditions, and some high noise levels. Protective clothing and equipment frequently used includes hardhat, safety vest, oil resistant safety shoes, hearing protection,goggles and gloves.
