    Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower band level equivalent to the AC-I (GS-7) level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience performing the following administrative duties:

    1. Using office automation software to prepare correspondence, track information, and produce briefings and reports.
    2. Managing calendars and meeting schedules; arranging and coordinating meetings.
    3. Tracking tasks and project suspense to ensure deadlines are met.
    4. Preparing and reviewing correspondence for grammatical correctness.
    5. Providing telephone and office coverage.

    There is no education requirement for this position.

    This is a bargaining unit position.

    Based on the staffing needs, additional selections may be made through this vacancy announcement.

    Travel and relocation expenses will not be paid for by the GAO.

    All applicants will be rated based on their responses to the assessment questions, in conjunction with the following Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

    • Knowledge of established practical administrative concepts and practices covering general administrative duties and services sufficient to enable the incumbent to provide advice and guidance, take appropriate actions, and resolve administrative problems.
    • General knowledge of policies, procedures, and systems related to administrative functions to prepare documents and produce reports, and update records.
    • Ability to analyze administrative and operational problems and develop proposed solutions within the incumbent’s areas of responsibility.
    • Skilled in office software packages such as Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint to prepare correspondence, track information, and produce briefings and reports.
    • Ability to work across the agency with GAO staff offices and mission teams involved with the CSC team.
    • Practical knowledge of Library of Congress classification system for books and other media.
    • Ability to maintain discretion and clear boundaries with respect to the confidentiality of the office and CSC clients; both within, and outside of the CSC.
    • Ability to set priorities and to work on widely varying projects simultaneously to accomplish quality work within acceptable time frames and work effectively in a high-pressure environment.
    • Skill in communicating clearly and effectively in writing to prepare standard correspondence and messages.
    • Ability to apply strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to assist staff and to work with other offices. By way of definition, oral communication may include methods used by employees with disabilities such as sign language interpretation, text-to-speech or TTY technology, and amplification devices.
