Testing Center Assistant
George Mason University, Disability Services office invites applications for the position of Testing Center Assistant, reporting to the Director of Disability Services and the Testing Administrator. Location: Mainly Fairfax campus, occasionally Arlington and Science and Technology campus Salary: $15 per hour Hours: Part-time.
Mid-January through mid-May and mid-September through mid- December. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 10a-3p. Tuesday 8:30a-2:00p Flexible hours (during the time frame 7a-10p) during fall and spring mid-terms and finals.
Responsibilities: The Testing Center Assistant is responsible for maintaining secure exam delivery and superior customer services in a comfortable friendly educational environment. The Assistant will effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, and students regarding testing policies and procedures. This position requires strict adherence to university policies and understands and complies with all testing procedures.
This position will assist with the day-to-day operations of the testing center. The candidate will be responsible for verifying student identification, proctoring examinees while testing, maintaining a secure testing environment, and using a student database containing confidential personal information; works closely with faculty and students to schedule exams, and verifies accommodations; acts as a scribe or reader when necessary; and completes other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a high school diploma; have intermediate experience in Microsoft Office; excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills and the candidate must possess the ability to multitask, be detail-oriented, and maintain confidentiality; ability to work in a fast-pace environment.
Preferred Qualifications: A bachelorâ€™s degree in rehabilitation counseling, special education, educational psychology, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience; significant demonstrated customer service experience; experience working with students who have disabilities and working knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADAA of 2008, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other appropriate laws.
