The Manager, Government Relations, will work within and report to the Powers, Pyles, Sutter, & Verville, PC Legislative Practice Group. The Manager, Government Relations will meaningfully contribute to the practice's advocacy and policy efforts in a variety of subject matter areas including Medicare, Medicaid and health care reform from a provider and consumer perspective. Qualified candidates will have Hill experience and/or direct experience lobbying Congress and executive agencies. Candidates with experience writing health care policy analyses are encouraged to apply. Essential job functions include: Monitor, track, research, analyze and communicate verbally and in writing health care policy developments in the legislative and regulatory areas that are important to our clients and our Legislative Practice group members; Coordinate multiple firm and client coalitions of health care provider and consumer organizations; Attend meetings, participate in conference calls, and represent client interests in a variety of settings as needed; Participate in legislative and health care group meetings and events; Assist in drafting and publishing a weekly healthcare newsletter; Assist in recruiting and supervising legislative interns; Develop grassroots and grass-tops advocacy communications; Other related duties as assigned; Track and bill time to clients as well as non-client related work. Requirements: A bachelor's degree in a related field with strong academic credentials. An advanced degree is strongly preferred; Hill experience and/or direct experience lobbying Congress and executive agencies is required; Strong verbal and written communication skills and public speaking experience; Experience writing health care policy analyses is strongly preferred; Working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process and Congressional organization and procedures; Ability to produce concise and engaging written products efficiently; Experience in researching health care policy issues; Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines with close attention to detail and follow through; Ability to think critically and work independently and proactively; Extensive knowledge of office computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
