Overview:

Sentara Norfolk General is hiring a Registered Nurse Unit Coordinator for its new 18 bed Medical Surgical/Unit.

Hours/Shift: 7am-7pm to work 36 hours per week including an alternate weekend shift.

Department/Position Overview: This unit cares for post-operation patients who have had Back or Neck surgery. The surgical back and neck patients are post operative patients that have required surgery to treat spinal cord injuries, deformities, pain, and tumors of the spine. Ideal for opportunity for dynamic RNs who would like to learn more about this unique patient population. We are looking for nurses who want to make a difference, take pride in their work and enjoy being a part of a team.

18 months nursing experience required. BSN required; Master degree preferred, if the graduate degree is not in nursing then the BSN is required. Meets any requirements defined by specific specialty. BLS required within 90 days of hire. Professional Specialty Nursing Certification preferred.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates proficiency in nursing practice for assigned specialty area and provides clinical leadership for the delivery of nursing care in a department. Under the direction of the department manager leads safety and quality initiatives, focuses on and simplifies workflow, and contributes to the development of staff. Increase staff satisfaction and promotes excellent (Gold Standard) customer service.
