Job Summary The Staff Accountant II - General Ledger is responsible for leading all accounting and projects related to cost of goods sold along with supporting acquisition and tax accounting. This position is responsible for producing ad-hoc reporting and analysis to all levels of the business and for multiple audiences. In addition, the Staff Accountant II - General Ledger is responsible for the accounting, reconciliation and reporting of cost of goods sold in accordance with company policies and US GAAP. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Partner with operations to lead and monitor cost of goods sold related to contact lens and lens. * Properly account for and track inventory acquired in acquisitions. * Handle tasks independently with minimal supervision, escalating complex issues * Lead and coordinate cost of goods sold accounting projects among all teams. * Document controls, processes and procedures related to COGS accounting and ensure compliance. * Ensure subledger balances to general ledger and resolve any variances. * Assist with acquisition accounting and valuation as needed * Assist with tax and regulatory accounting as needed * Participate in, or lead, internal projects * Ensure audit preparedness for financial records, processes and controls. * Coordinate audit requests and ensure deliverables are provided within the requested time frame. * Serve as Oracle superuser for area assigned, implementing additional functionality to improve accuracy and efficiency in reporting * Other responsibilities as assigned Work Experience * 2-5 years related experience in related position or 1 year of public accounting experience Education * Bachelor's degree (BA) in Accounting, Finance, or related field from a four-year college or university * CPA preferred Credentials * none Job Skills, Knowledge, abilities * Ability to think strategically and innovatively while working in a collaborative team oriented environment * Strong written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build relationships and talk to all levels * Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment and prioritize effectively * Ability to engage and thrive in a team environment * Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel * Strong knowledge of US GAAP * Experience with Oracle (or another ERP system) * Ability to perform highly detailed work under tight deadlines and handle competing priorities * Demonstrated history of problem solving * Superb ability to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting and system issues. * Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal and external partners to maximize performance and provide excellent customer service Working Conditions * Must to able to travel as needed by the job. * Access information using a computer. * Effectively communicate with others. * Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
