What does Nuclear Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health?Nuclear Pharmacy is responsible for providing radiopharmaceuticals and other drugs to medical care providers under highly regulated State and Federal guidelines may also consult with or advise physicians and nuclear medicine technologists on the safe and efficacious use of radioactive drugs for diagnosis and therapyClick here to watch a short video about what a Nuclear Pharmacy Technician does at Cardinal HealthSchedule 40 hours per week. Typically Monday - Friday 5:00 am - 1:00 pm. Occasional night and weekend shifts to ensure adequate pharmacy coverage. Some holidays as needed. Candidate must be flexible based on business need.Accountabilities in this roleUnder the immediate direction of a qualified licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to draw, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with the regulations of the State Board of Pharmacy. Many of your duties will include:Prepare prescriptions by typing labels and obtain Staff Pharmacist approvalDraw doses into either a syringe or vialPerform quality assurance tests on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Federal, State, Company and manufacturer's guidelinesReceive, document, and store incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals according to the Department of Transportation and Company guidelinesMaintain computer inventory and records to ensure proper utilization of materials and accounting for Rx drugsAssist and/or perform in the labeling of blood cell productsPerform general laboratory and facility clean upMay perform clerical and administrative services including maintenance of daily records, preparation of receipts, report preparation, and maintenance of billing recordsMake deliveries to accounts with company vehicles as neededSpeak with customers and address questions and/or concerns via telephone Works under close supervision. All work is reviewed for accuracy. Any deviations from the norm are approved by the supervisor before proceedingQualificationsHigh school degree or equivalent strongly preferredMaryland State Pharmacy Technician license requiredPrevious experience working as a Pharmacy Technician is highly preferredPast IV experience is a plusValid driver's license and good driving record Minimum of 21 years of age due to driving of company owned vehicleAbility to lift up to 55 lbsEagerness to learn and willingness to adapt to new challenges are paramountStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong customer service skillsFlexibility to work various shifts is preferredComfortable performing repetitive motions/tasksComfortable working in a nuclear environmentAbility to work weekends or be in a weekend rotation Ability to work holidays or be in a holiday rotation Ability to work on call or be in an on call rotation Ability to work overtime with little or no advance noticeDemonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tabletsWhat is expected of you and others at this levelApplies basic skills and techniques to complete routine tasks within assigned areaMaintains appropriate licenses, training and certificationsWorks on basic and routine assignmentsWorks within clearly defined Standard Operating Procedures and/or scientific methodsAdheres to all quality guidelinesWorks under close supervision.
