The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) represents more than 300 heating, water heating, ventilation, air conditioning and commercial refrigeration manufacturers within the global HVACR industry, accounting for more than 90 percent of equipment manufactured and sold in North America.. POSITION SUMMARY. This position is a key policy and governmental advocacy role reporting to AHRI's President & CEO. As a member of the executive leadership team, this position is highly visible both externally and internally and is responsible for developing the overall strategy concerning the domestic and international policy issues that impact AHRI's member companies. The position requires the development and leadership of an advocacy strategy that provides proactive engagement on policy issues by keeping members informed and by gaining support for AHRI positions from the public, the government, and other related interest groups.. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS. Minimum of ten years prior work experience in government relations, policy, law, or related field is required.. Advanced degree in policy, government affairs, international relations, law, or similar degree.. Comprehensive understanding of the federal policy arena, including legislative and regulatory processes with preferred work experience with Congress; state legislatures; federal and state agency, or similar experience on energy or environmental issues.. Extensive relationships with, and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with, federal and state government officials, including Members of Congress and the Executive Branch..
