Senior HR Business Partner, North America
Job Purpose To work as an integral member of the North American (NA) leadership team, contribute and influence the development of the business strategy from a people management perspective. Proactively identify, plan for and meet the human resource needs of the NA business, to improve business performance, to lead recruitment efforts, and to ensure compliance with American and Canadian employment legislation. Key Accountabilities Working closely with the NA leadership team to develop, drive and implement the HR Strategy/People Plan to include: talent acquisition, succession planning, workforce training, planning and change management, to support the delivery of business objectives and drive a high-performance culture. Support the development of a diverse workforce in compliance with all North American affirmative action and equal employment opportunity rules and guidelines. Lead the recruitment of permanent NRC posts in NA, working closely with relevant line managers taking account of the relevant local legal requirements. Develop appropriate job descriptions and selection criteria, manage short-listing process, undertake and oversee interviewing; and the negotiation and preparation of employment contracts across all relevant legal jurisdictions. Support the recruitment of expatriate staff from the UK to NA and lead the relocation program including visa applications, relocation packages and appointment of relocation advisors etc. Coordinate and implement NRC Induction processes including NRC's two-day induction course for new joiners. Manage small HR team to provide a comprehensive HR program to the NRC NA entity. Assure the execution of all relevant NRC HR policies such as performance reviews, monitoring sickness records, disciplinary and grievance procedures, and development and implementation of training plans etc in NA. Oversee HR back office functions for NA including the preparation and administration of the NA payroll - executed by third party supplier including providing a final review and sign-off for the NA HR team as well benefits programs. Share best practice within NRC and contribute to the development of global NRC policies in collaboration with HR partners in other NRC regions. Advise and support managers on all issues relating to employee relations, rewards, learning and development, and performance management. Support managers in the event of the initiation of grievance processes. Requirements Job Skills, Experience and Qualifications Essential Knowledge and experience of implementing best practice HR solutions in a professional services environment in North America. Working knowledge of United States and Canadian employment law or ability to become familiar with Canadian employment law. Pro-active approach to anticipating human resource and employment issues and bringing solutions as appropriate. Results-oriented. Passionate about customer service. Excellent leadership and management experience with a focus on delivering business focused HR support both personally and through a team. Ability and experience mentoring junior human resources staff. Excellent relationship building skills demonstrated through proven experience of working in partnership with directors and senior managers improve people management practices and develop strategic HR plans. Excellent communications skills in verbal and written form. Proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc) and HR databases.
