You qualify at the GS-13 level, if you meet the following qualifications:
Basic Requirement - Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.
Possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization (GS-12). To be credible, this experience must include: 1) skill in applying advanced, analytical, mathematical, or statistical theories, principles, concepts, methods and techniques related to: statistical analysis; Parametric and non-parametric analysis; computer modeling; decision theory; mathematical programming; regression analysis; and economic analysis; 2) skill in applying statistical theory and techniques sufficient to execute and control projects that represent an important segment of an Agency's operating programs; 3) uses computers and computer applications to analyze and communicate information in the appropriate format; and 4) solves practical problems by choosing appropriately from a variety of mathematical and statistical techniques. This experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled.
