Regional Assistant Circulation Manager (Library Assistant II)
Assists the circulation manager with the management and supervision of the circulation department of a regional library, including supervising and monitoring performance of circulation aides, support staff and volunteers; developing training techniques, and preparing daily schedules. Serves as person-in-charge of the circulation department as required. May serve as person-in-charge of the Page department as required. Serves on branch management team. Responds to the needs of library customers and resolves customer issues. Ability to understand and interpret library policies. Performs all essential circulation and support duties. May serve as the branch volunteer coordinator.
Note: The salary will not exceed the midpoint (or $56,195.57) of the advertised compensation range.
Schedule: Scheduling flexibility is imperative. The schedule includes evenings, Saturdays and Sundays as assigned. The schedule may vary depending on the needs of the library.
Manages the page department of a regional library;
Interviews, selects, trains and evaluates the performance of subordinates and volunteers;
Serves as a member of the Branch Management Team;
Serves as manager-in-charge of circulation services as required;
Communicates circulation policies and procedures at a regional library;
Resolves non-routine circulation problems and clients' account issues; referring as appropriate;
Performs all general public service circulation duties and support tasks;
May schedule staff and plan workflow to ensure adequate coverage. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of library policies and procedures;
Knowledge of how to operate and effectively utilize the Library's automated circulation system;
Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation;
Knowledge of word processing and computer applications;
Ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others;

Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing;
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others;
Ability to deal with stressful situations and difficult customers;

Ability to stoop, bend and stretch;
Ability to stand for two hours at a time.
Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to completion of two years (60 semester hours) of course work at an accredited college or university; plus, two years of full-time library experience or the equivalent amount of part-time library experience, including one year performing duties comparable to Library Assistant I.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Two or more years of experience working in a public library, to include one or more years of supervisory experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
The appointee to the position will be required to complete a criminal background check and Child Protective Services Registry check to the satisfaction of the employer.
Ability to input, access, and retrieve information from a computer. Ability to lift books weighing 10 pounds. Ability to push and pull full book bins and book carts. Ability to perform repetitive hand, arm, wrist and shoulder movements. Ability to stoop, bend and reach. Must be able to stand for two hours at a time.
