Works as Family Caregiver Specialist as part of the Caregiver Support Team within the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging/Adult and Aging Division. Develops and implements support programs for family caregivers. Builds partnerships with community organizations and businesses. Provides community outreach and presentations. Develops and implements trainings to professionals, caregivers, and community groups. Manages residential repair and renovation funding to assist older adults and their caregivers with household repairs for eligible participants. Oversees partnership with local foundation, including identification of caregivers and distribution of foundation gifts. Under direction of the agency director, assists with implementation of State caregiver support initiatives, including those identified by Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services Virginia Family Caregiver Stakeholder Workgroup. This position works under the direction of the Livable Communities Development Director.

Note: The functional areas of the position are human services, social services, human services coordination/program management, or social services coordination/program management.

Employment Standards MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor's degree in the field related to the assigned functional area; plus two years of professional work experience within the functional area.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Driver's license required upon hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Five or more years of professional work experience with older adults and/or adults with disabilities; developing, implementing, or managing supportive programs for older adults and/or adults with disabilities; community outreach programs, building coalitions; and creating presentations and facilitating meetings.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check, Child Protective Services Registry check, and driving record check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sufficiently mobile to attend community events, meetings, and make site visits outside the office. Ability to use automated technology. May be required to transport items under 10 pounds in weight. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Panel interview; may include a presentation exercise.
