Home Health Aide - Program Assistant
Meets the daily responsibilities of caring for adults with physical, and cognitive impairments attending the adult day health care center. Assists in planning, organizing and leading recreational activities as assigned by the recreation therapist. Assists with the nutrition program by serving breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily. Assists participants with toileting and provides incontinence care as needed. Accompanies participants on community outings. Monitors participants' weight and vital signs and completes written documentation as assigned by the center nurse or center nurse coordinator.

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to a high school diploma or a GED.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Must achieve certification in CPR and First Aid within one year of employment. Must be able to achieve limited food handlers certification within one year of employment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background investigation, a Child Protective Services (CPS) check and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Preferred candidate will have one year of experience working with adults with disabilities or special populations such as clients with Alzheimer's and other related dementias. Experience taking vital signs. Experience and knowledge in assisting with therapeutic recreation activities. Has a current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Additional education beyond high school in a field related to human services. Bilingual in English/Spanish skills a plus.
Employee is required to walk, stand for long periods of time (i.e: 1 to 2 hours), bend, sit, kneel, reach, climb stairs and participate in recreational therapy, read and write in complete sentences in English. Ability to assist with client transfers from sitting to standing and standing to sitting and lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment.
