Overview:

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a full time Risk Manager.

Position Overview
  • Responsible for the facility/division's risk management activities, which include coordinating insurance coverage and risk financing, managing claims against the division/facility, interfacing with claims adjusters and defense legal counsel.
  • Coordinating and maintaining a loss control program, administering the risk management program on a day-to-day basis, managing and analyzing risk management data, and conducting risk management educational programs.
  • Coordinating with division leaders and collaborating with clinical teams to develop strategies to prevent medical error and reduce loss.
  • Engaging team members to evaluate incidents and conduct investigation provide for appropriate response to claims.
  • Ensuring compliance with risk management related laws and regulation to control and minimize losses.
  • Identifying trends and reviewing System reports
  • Conducting loss control audits and reviews to evaluate patient care quality and to identify possible risk exposures.
  • Participating with select committees related to the assessment of patient care and safety, customer satisfaction and facility issues to assist in providing risk management expertise and direction.

Other
Bachelor's degree in related field required. Masters degree in Business or Health related field preferred. 2 years which can include healthcare, nursing, regulatory/compliance, business, risk management, legal, and/or insurance Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP),or Certified Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) required within 3 years of hire.
