  • A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)-accredited institution is highly desired. An advanced degree in engineering is preferred.

  • Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
  • Education and/or expert level of experience within the Program Management field, as it applies to Research and Development projects and efforts within the intelligence arena is desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and/or practical application within Contracting Office Representative (COR) and/or acquisition arena is desired.
  • A newly appointed or reappointed employee may receive service credit for prior work experience or active duty uniformed service that otherwise would not be creditable for the purpose of determining his or her annual leave accrual rate.
  • For creditable service for leave accrual above, creditable service must be directly related to the duties of the position being filled and decisions to allow for such credit must be finalized prior to the selectee?s entrance on duty.
  • BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Professional Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics.

    OR
    A combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional registration, written test, specified academic courses or related curriculum. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

    Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of specialized experience include: Knowledge of a wide range of multidisciplinary professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to support project development, execution, and advisory services; Knowledge of acquisition policy and guidance, and the role risk plays throughout a weapon systems lifecycle, acquisition intelligence analysis mission and strategy, and roles and responsibilities of risk management offices in support of USAF research laboratories, acquisition program offices, and lifecycle management, nuclear, sustainment, and system testing enterprises. Extensive knowledge of the intelligence cycle and intelligence policy and guidance, and the structure, organization, roles and missions, and inter-relationships of the national Intelligence Community (IC), DoD, and USAF; Engineering and intelligence cycle knowledge, methodologies, principles, and concepts to accurately identify shortfalls/risk in support of US Defense Industrial Base weapon systems, subsystems, and/or support equipment to determine potential courses of action, provide technical advice and direction, and/or recommend solutions to satisfy open requirements and resolve shortfalls. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

    1.     4. Expert skills in communicating effectively with others, both orally and in writing, in working out solutions to problems or questions related to the task, writing clear, and concise intelligence products, and delivering written and/or verbal presentations to senior level audiences for decision-making purposes.

    5. Thorough knowledge to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches; to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes; and to gather, assemble, and analyze facts, form conclusions, and devise and recommend solutions to problems.

    6. Mastership to quickly assimilate disparate data; render knowledgeable and accurate assessments of the implication of such data, and make decisions, estimates, and recommendations under conditions of urgency and competing resources based on mature judgment and experience, and present and/or defend a position effectively.
    PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
