Job Summary:

Westat has an immediate opening for a project manager in our tobacco research group to work with a multidisciplinary team of researchers.  This project manager will contribute to a variety of projects focused on tobacco regulatory science and tobacco control, particularly the NIH and FDA-funded Population Assessment of Tobacco and Health (PATH) Study.
Job Responsibilities: · Supporting senior managers in the management and technical conduct of various project tasks. · Participating in project work groups; coordinating and monitoring project activities; writing reports and memos; and collaborating on grant and contract proposals.  · Contribute to scientific publications and presentations.  · Frequent communication and coordination with tobacco research scientists and project managers in various corporate, academic and federal government organizations. · Supervising staff.


Basic qualifications: 

· A master's degree in public health or other relevant health or social science discipline is required. · 8 years of experience in a professional working environment with at least five years of management responsibility (including any combination of research management and other organizational management). · Experience with tobacco research. · Demonstrated expertise in the management of public health research projects or corporate enterprise projects. 
A relevant business degree in addition to the required master's degree is advantageous but not required. Strong written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills are essential. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, able to take initiative, and capable of multi-tasking, and working well independently as well as in teams.
