Community Connections seeks a Re-Entry Specialist to work on our Re-Entry Project for returning citizens who have behavioral health problems. The Re-Entry Specialist visits people in jail and prison, facilitates events on the day of release, and provides direct support to consumers in their first weeks in the community. The Specialist will work closely with other Re-Entry stakeholders in the city and at Community Connections, maximizing the chances of reducing recidivism and improving community adjustment. A passion for providing supports to people who are seeking to successfully leave the criminal justice system is necessary for success in the job.
Two years' experience providing behavioral health services to people dually diagnosed with a major mental illness and addiction
Experience working with the criminal justice system and an understanding of its impact on vulnerable people;
Empathy for the unique problems of justice involved individuals
Excellent organizational skills
Preferred qualifications: MSW or MA in Counseling with a DC LGSW or LGPC, as well as the experience described above
Candidates must have a reliable vehicle, clean driving record, and be able to successfully complete the agency's background check.
