Program Assistant, Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) Program

The Program Assistant is a key member of the three-person team charged with managing the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program at AMIDEAST headquarters. The incumbent will work in tandem with the Program Manager to manage recruitment/selection on-program support, and alumni activities in conjunction with the relevant field offices.  The incumbent also will assume responsibilities that pertain to and require the assistance of the YES program as a whole. Therefore, the Program Assistant must be organized, diplomatic, and team-focused.          

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide administrative support including:

  • Assist with the recruitment, selection, on-program support, and alumni programming for YES students from AMIDEAST program countries
  • Correspond with YES consortium partners and AMIDEAST field staff
  • Assist with coordinating student and alumni workshops and orientations  
  • Coordinate the review, submission, and tracking of application materials and follow up requests between field offices and consortium partner organizations
  • Respond in a timely fashion to requests for on-program support from partner organizations and field offices, including distributing and submitting forms and providing guidance on student support issues
  1. Contribute to social media efforts, including creating content and participating in the YES Consortium social media workgroup
  2. Contribute to YES alumni programming, including collecting, editing and submitting monthly reports, facilitating the recruitment and selection of participants for alumni events, and participating in the YES Consortium alumni workgroup
  3. Distribute, collect, edit, and submit quarterly and annual YES reports as requested by consortium partners
  4. Participate in - and help organize and facilitate when needed - monthly AMIDEAST YES staff calls
  • Attend YES consortium meetings as needed
  • Process program related payments as needed
  • Provide general clerical support and other administrative duties as assigned by supervisor

    QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

•     Bachelor's degree or equivalent

•     Minimum one year relevant experience in an office environment

•     Precise attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task

•     Excellent written and spoken communications skills

•     Experience using Microsoft Office

Preferred:

•     Interest in the Middle East & North Africa and/or International Education

  • Previous experience working with students and/or youth is a plus
