Clinical Unit Psychologist
We are recruiting a Licensed Clinical Psychologist or unlicensed doctoral level Psychology Associate to work on an acute care unit with experience and interest in applying evidence-based treatment approaches to the treatment and recovery of individuals with persistent and severe mental illness. Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute (NVMHI) serves a diverse population in the Northern Virginia region and leads the region in the promotion of hope and recovery for individuals who have mental illness. Unit Psychologists work as part of an interdisciplinary team, supporting the recovery of adults with severe mental illness in an inpatient setting.
Duties include providing assessment to evaluate risk, participating in treatment planning, and providing evaluation, treatment (group, individual, and family) and consultation services. The successful candidate will have training and ongoing interest in the application of cognitive-behavioral strategies and behavioral interventions to the treatment of a range of disorders. Opportunities for participation in research, training, and ongoing individual and peer clinical supervision are available in the context of quality person-centered care.
A writing sample will be required/completed at the time of interview.
- Graduation from an accredited doctoral program in Clinical Psychology required by first day of employment.
- Graduation from an internship accredited by the American Psychological Association is required.
- VA license as Clinical Psychologist strongly preferred
- Experience with CBT and DBT treatment interventions, as well in behavioral analysis and application to various disorders, including trauma and dual diagnosis, is strongly preferred
- Previous experience in inpatient setting and in forensic mental health treatment is preferred
