Plans and coordinates the activities of the plumbing work force in the repair, inspection, maintenance, and installation of commercial and residential plumbing and gas systems, and related components. Provides guidance and assistance to plumbing personnel in diagnosing problems, determining the extent of repairs required, materials needed, and methods necessary to complete repairs. Prepares manpower, materials, and equipment estimates to perform preventive and corrective maintenance. Reviews incoming maintenance requests and completed work orders. Performs related duties as required. Incumbent is considered emergency service personnel.
Note: Position may be subject to overtime, on-call, and weekend rotation. Selected applicant may possibly be exposed to materials known to contain asbestos, in which case the incumbent will undergo annual asbestos examinations
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
- Valid state motor vehicle operator's license;
- Valid journeyman plumber certification from the state of Virginia.
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, driving record check, and a medical examination to the satisfaction of the employer prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid journeyman's or master's level plumbing license for the state of Virginia. Experience using tools of the trade and experience estimating time and materials needed to complete a job. Prior knowledge and experience working with Sloan valves, three phase and single phase electric pump motors and pump motor control centers, and water heaters (gas, electric and oil). Certified cross-connection prevention device tester.
Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to climb up 8' step ladders. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
Panel interview and may include a "hands on" plumbing skills assessment.
