  • Position may require a background security investigation to determine suitability for employment and/or a security clearance
  • This is a drug testing designated position
  • May be required to work overtime, rotating shifts, uncommon tours, weekends, etc.
  • Incumbent must maintain Personnel Reliability Program (PRP) status as a condition of employment and must qualify for an maintain the appropriate security clearances as well as maintaining all other PRP requirements for a controlled position
  • This position is subject to the provisions of DoD Priority Placement Program (PPP)
  • Some positions may be covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 06) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968

  • Work involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing, and arm movement; sometimes must work in awkward positions or cramped areas.
  • Must frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds and lift heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers
  • Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

    ELEMENT A: Ability to do the Work of Powered Support Systems Mechanic Without More than Normal Supervision--
    ELEMENT B: Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. -What kind of instructions, specification or directives have you had to interpret? Be sure to describe experience in interpreting new instructions or specifications concerning changes in operational procedures.
    ELEMENT C: Knowledge of Materials equipment, assembly, installation-List the kind of equipment you have had to assemble, make, install, test, or repair. Give examples of the work you performed on the equipment such as assemble, disassemble, install, test, maintain, repair, troubleshoot, calibrate, modify, and design.
    ELEMENT D: Troubleshoot- Give Examples of your experience troubleshooting equipment. Show the extent to which you had to understand the entire system to isolate the problem.
    ELEMENT E: Technical Practices- Give examples of your work experience that required inventing new methods to do tasks that could not be done in regular ways.
    ELEMENT F: Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment- List the hand tools, power tools, specialized tools, and related support equipment that you have used and give brief examples of the work performed with each.

    PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
