Substance Abuse Counselor
This position provides assessments and referral to treatment for offenders charged with DWI and offenders for all illicit substances. We serve three locations for parole an probation and there assessor on site at each location. The locations are Upper Marlboro, Temple Hills and Hyattsville.
Goal: To provide screenings and/or assessments scheduled or by walk -in for clients who have been referred by the P&P agents, Judges and the State of Maryland. These can also include 8-505 assessments and referrals from the Mental Heath Court.
Deliverables/Performance Measures: When the initial screenings are conducted and there are signs of high-risk behaviors and/or signs of substance abuse, the client is then referred on to Behavioral Health Services for a more thorough Assessment.
8-505 Referrals from the State of Maryland are to be conducted and completed within 7 days. This will include making copies of the Assessment Narrative, Cover Page and consents for the Judge, Asst. Sate Attorney, PD or private attorney and the State referring contact. The 8-507 or the Treatment Placement order is handled by the State contact person.
Qualifications: Licensed Professional Counselor (LCPC) or Master’s Degree preferably in Public Health.
