About This Career Opportunity

Utilizing our Vision, Mission and Core Values as a guide, the Mortgage Loan Originator is responsible for the origination of First Mortgage, Second Mortgage and Home Equity Lines of Credit loans.  Conducts initial prequalification interviews and prepares complete loan application packages and necessary documentation.    Conveys policies for extension of credit in accordance with Educational Systems FCU policies and procedures and secondary market guidelines as well as all Federal, State, NCUA and other regulatory agencies rules and regulations.  Responds to questions and/or provides information upon request from members (internal and external).  Assists members and potential members in understanding and utilizing Credit Union products and services. Assists Mortgage Loan staff as necessary.

Position Requirements

High school diploma, college or equivalent work experience.  Minimum of five years of experience in mortgage lending. Experience with direct customer service in a financial institution also required. Knowledge of 1st and 2nd mortgage loan products, procedures, documentation, and underwriting guidelines is required. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of secondary market guidelines, including FNMA,  Freddie Mac, FHA and VA.  Proficiency with mortgage origination/processing systems; Desk Top Underwriter or equivalent underwriting software and  Microsoft Office products.  This position requires Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) registration under the SAFE Act of 2008.  Excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical  skills required.  Ability to function in a financial institution branch environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: 10 key calculator, fax, copier, telephone, etc. 

May require evening, weekend hours and some travel; must be able to provide own transportation.

Ability to speak and understand multiple languages a plus.  Professional appearance and positive attitude required.
