Job Description Director of Marketing Employer: Small Business Investor Alliance Job Type: Management/Marketing/Media/Communications Description: Founded in 1958, the Small Business Investor Alliance is the trade association of senior private equity investment professionals focused on the lower middle market whose members represent the entire private capital ecosystem. It is an alliance for professional fellowship, business opportunities, innovation, advocacy, regulatory expertise, and market data. Our members invest in growing domestic small businesses. This newly created position provides vision, leadership, and implementation of SBIA's brand management, event marketing, strategic communications, and social media. Duties and Responsibilities - Creates and implements strategic marketing plans to promote: awareness of the SBIA in the private equity market; attendance of SBIA events and conferences; increased association membership; and increased membership engagement of SBIA offerings - Develops, coordinates, and measures the promotion of SBIA programs, services, products, and benefits to targeted markets - Writes, edits, and manages content for outgoing advertising and communications via newsletters; membership recruiting materials; sponsorship brochures; email campaigns; social media postings and advertisements; blogs; presentations; external articles; webinars; video presentations; and other collateral as required - Generates and communicates a compelling value proposition for SBIA programs to drive attendance and membership - Identifies and deploys new communications and marketing products; engagement tools; distribution channels, and customer feedback tools to improve delivery and recognition of SBIA and its events and services - Updates content on SBIA's website www.SBIA.org - Conducts member and attendee surveys and market research to determine customer satisfaction and needs and use survey results to evaluate marketing strategies and effectiveness. - Establishes and adheres to budgets, timelines, and work plans - Coordinates to promote jointly hosted webinars with sponsors and members - Works closely and collaboratively with other SBIA staff, SBIA members, and SBIA sponsors. - Partners with SBIA event sponsors and members to provide mutually beneficial awareness of their support of SBIA For Membership - Works very closely with Director of Business Development to execute a comprehensive marketing and branding plan to increase membership and ensure continued growth of the SBIA by targeted marketing to prospective members and into specific new markets - Actively participates in industry events, networking receptions, conference calls, etc. to better understand the market opportunities and to market membership in the SBIA more effectively. - Communicate directly with members, sponsors, and prospective members to maintain relationships, communicate SBIA's value proposition, and increase retention - Collects and manages important market information (deal announcements, new funds formed, etc.) to highlight member and sponsor successes and to raise awareness of industry successes Meetings and Events - Works very closely with the Chief Operating Officer and events team to market meetings and events. - Creates and adheres to a marketing timeline to market all SBIA events. - Ensures that SBIA obligations to sponsors are met or exceeded. - Uses LinkedIn and other appropriate social media to raise awareness of event content, speakers, sponsors, attendees. - Prepares event guides, event or association app(s), electronic communications, membership brochures, banners, signage, and event websites as needed - Develops, distributes, and analyzes surveys on meetings and events and develops suggestions for improvements based upon the survey feedback Additional Requirements - Experience in marketing communications, including brand management. - Excellent written and oral communication skills - Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or similar field. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, social networking, Google Analytics, email marketing tools (eg Constant Contact), and website management required - Experience with event apps, survey tools (eg Survey Monkey), and other association technology is beneficial - Domestic travel to some regional events and other SBIA will be required (primarily air travel). - Successful professional track record defined by ethical practices, intelligent problem solving, and energy - Ability to organize, prioritize, initiate and coordinate multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines - Ability to work as a part of a fast paced team, as well as work independently - Strong work ethic - Positive, enthusiastic attitude and customer-oriented demeanor - Desire for professional growth, development and a passion for earning success Benefits - Competitive Salary with performance bonus - Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance - Continuing professional education benefits - 401k - Metro subsidy Company Description Founded in 1958, the Small Business Investor Alliance is the trade association of senior private equity investment professionals focused on the lower middle market whose members represent the entire private capital ecosystem.
