With nationwide responsibility for improving the health and wellbeing of all Americans, the Department of Health and Human Services oversees the biomedical research programs of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and those of NIH’s research Institutes. The Division of Intramural Research (DIR) of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) is seeking an outstanding clinical research coordinator to assist with the recruitment of study participants for the establishment of a repository of bio-specimens comprised of individuals affected with sickle cell disease.

NHLBI is collaborating with Children’s National Medical Center (CNMC) on this research study and the Clinical Research Coordinator will spend approximately 50% of work hours at NHLBI and approximately 50% of work hours at CNMC. The Clinical Research Coordinator will be involved in explaining the research study to potential participants and parents, consenting, transporting or shipping specimens to and from NIH, and data collection. The employee will also maintain regulatory documents at CNMC and NIH.

The successful candidate should have at least 1 year of work experience, preferably as a research assistant, data manager, or through interaction with a research population. Applicants with a BA/BS degree in science, technical, health-related field, or other applicable discipline preferred. Salary is commensurate with research experience and accomplishments.
