TEMPORARY FACILITIES SPECIALIST

LOCATION: Washington, DC – NW (metro-accessible)

HOURS: Monday through Friday, 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. with 1 hour (unpaid) for lunch (7-hour work day; 35-hour work week)

ASSIGNMENT DURATION: Monday, December 10th through Tuesday, January 1st

REPORTS TO: Office Manager

The Facilities Specialist is responsible for office and equipment maintenance, equipment and supplies procurement, postal matters, small and large reproduction, and logistics for hearings and oral arguments.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Small- and large-scale document reproduction
  • Ensuring the proper and timely filing of pleadings and other documents with the Board on Professional Responsibility (BPR) and the District of Columbia Court of Appeals (DCCA)
  • Managing all mail operations, offsite storage, and legacy file activities (including scanning, logging, and destruction)
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for office/equipment maintenance, purchasing supplies, and on- and off-site inventory of files, furniture, and other materials
  • Providing Tier I support for office equipment, including printers, copiers, and scanners
  • Managing building-related issues, assuring optimal functioning of officers, and overseeing cleaning, maintenance, and improvements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.A. or B.S. degree in Business Administration or related discipline from an accredited college or university with a minimum of four (4) years of work experience OR a combination of education and relevant work experience in positions of increasing responsibility equal to eight (8) or more years; Facilities Management Professional Certification desirable
  • At least three (3) years of direct managerial experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience working in a nonprofit environment strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; must work well in a team environment and be able to interact with vendors, court personnel, the public, and organization employees
  • Must work well under pressure, possess excellent organizational abilities, set and meet deadlines, be able to manage several priorities in a day, and be adaptable, creative, and self-motivated
  • Must be able to handle and maintain the confidentiality of highly sensitive information
  • Must be able to work additional hours in and around set schedule as needed during inclement weather conditions, emergencies, and/or liberal leave situations
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., which includes repetitive movement, as well as move tables, chairs, and other furniture
