    Applicants applying for the GS-12 grade level must meet the following requirements:

    Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below:

      1. Attention to Detail - Attention to detail in applying IT concepts and methods to interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the delivery of IT services.
      2. Customer Service - Uses customer service principles in providing on-the-job and formal training.
      3. Oral Communication - Skill in oral communication to design solutions to IT Security issues and present briefings to management.
      4. Problem Solving - Skill in resolving complex IT systems security issues to minimize risks associated with IT systems vulnerabilities.

    AND

    Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

    Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:   

    • Experience managing an information assurance security program;
    • Experience researching and formulating recommendations to improve critical information security; and
    • Experience applying information security concepts, methods, and practices.

    There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.

    Applicants applying for the GS-13 grade level must meet the following requirements:

    Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below:

      1. Attention to Detail - Attention to detail in applying advanced IT concepts and methods to develop and interpret policies, procedures, and strategies governing the planning and delivery of IT services throughout an organization.
      2. Customer Service - Uses advanced customer service principles in developing and providing on-the-job and formal training, and in coordinating the resolution of system problems.
      3. Oral Communication - Skill in oral communication to design and develop solutions to IT Security issues and prepare and present briefings to senior management on complex technical issues.
      4. Problem Solving - Skill in analyzing, evaluating, and resolving complex IT systems security issues, and anticipating, mitigating, and minimizing IT systems vulnerabilities throughout an Organization.

    AND

    Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.

    Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:  

    • Experience researching and formulating recommendations to improve critical information security, providing recommendations to senior management for implementation;
    • Experience utilizing information security concepts, methods, and practices to ensure an organization's business practices conform to accepted regulations and practices; and
    • Experience developing policies and procedures for dealing with information security and vulnerability issues.

    There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
