Job Summary The Director of Financial Reporting, which reports to the VP, Finance and Accounting Operations, is responsible for the complete, accurate, and timely internal and external financial reporting for the System's more than 20 entities and $5.6 billion in annual net revenue. External reporting includes the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements (which are publicly filed) and internal reporting includes the preparation of monthly consolidated financial statements, presentations for executive leadership and the System's Audit and Finance Committees, statistical reporting, and other ad hoc financial analyses. This position is also responsible for directing the consolidation process, maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts, assisting with the implementation of new accounting standards, coordinating with the external auditors, and documenting of financial internal controls and related policies. Qualifications EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Accounting. EXPERIENCE: 7 years accounting and financial reporting related experience in a public or private accounting environment. Background in public accounting and/or experience within a multi-entity, integrated health system preferred. LICENSE/CERT/REG: CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification. SKILLS: Exceptional attention to detail is required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products and working knowledge of PeopleSoft and Hyperion. Strong analytical mindset with demonstrated ability to evolve and be change agile. Ability to lead multiple projects and associated personnel within set timelines. Must have teambuilding, coaching and mentoring skills and ability to recruit, train and retain high performing associates. Job Responsibilities Directs the complete, accurate, and timely preparation and distribution of all of the System's internal and external financial reporting, including the annual audit report, quarterly filings, monthly internal financial statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position. Collaborates with entity Finance, General Accounting, Rates & Reimbursement, Patient Financial Services, Budgeting and Forecasting, and other departments as needed to gather, consolidate, review, and maintain supporting documentation for the financial statements and related analyses. Ensures internal and external financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and company policies/procedures, including drafting of footnotes and MD&A narratives. Prepares presentations for the System's Board, Finance and Audit Committees and related support packages for senior executives. In partnership with others, oversees the MedStar consolidated annual audit, quarterly reviews, and the annual audit of the four defined benefit/contribution plans. Responsibilities include coordinating timelines with the external auditors, ensuring the submission of client deliverables, and responding to auditor ad hoc requests. Leads the administration and maintenance of PeopleSoft's Financial Reporting application, nVision. Works with nVision developers both within the Entity finance teams and the IT/ERP team to propose new financial reports and resolve issues with existing reports. Maintains the general ledger and chart of accounts. Builds and enhances a strong team that provides proactive support and results-driven execution of responsibilities to meet the current and future needs of the business. Manages and coaches employees to facilitate associate engagement and professional development. Continually strives to develop talent within the finance organization to promote individual development.
