Camp Puh'tok was founded to ensure that the transformative overnight summer camp experience was available to all children, especially those that needed it most. Over seventy-five years later, our mission largely remains the same; to bring together youth and adults from diverse backgrounds and provide meaningful year-round outdoor learning experiences that foster personal development, mutual understanding and an appreciation for our natural environment. Successful associates will have a passion to work with campers, support the vision and goals of the Y and Camp Puh'tok, and have a commitment to excellence in every aspect of the services we provide. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Senior Program Director for Education will oversee and assure the quality, development, and operation of all aspects of the Y Camp Puh'tok Education programs. The Senior Program Director of Education will participate in the hiring and supervision of year-round education associates and will implement elements and curriculum of all Education programs. The Senior Program Director of Education will also ensure that all students and teachers receive high quality programs and services and first class amenities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Responsible for the safe and effective operation of all Y Camp Puh'tok Education programs. Develops and implements Education Programs in alignment with MSDE and Common Core curriculum standards. Assures and upholds adherence to all camping industry standards set forth by the American Camp Association and by which we are accredited. The areas covered under these standards include Health and Wellness, Operations, Aquatics, Program Design, Human Resources, Program Trip and Travel, Transportation, and Food Service. In conjunction with camp management team, compiles and assures that all supporting documentation required by the American Camp Association (through the above-mentioned standards) is maintained and organized in appropriate manuals. Is integrally involved in the advertisement and hiring of seasonal, full-time and part-time positions related to operating the Education Programs, application processing, interviews, and selection of eligible candidates. Trains, evaluates and supervises all Education associates. Ensures that all associate to student ratios and qualifications for the Education program are met through the hiring process. Schedules, plans, oversees and actively participates in Education associate training. Communicates with teachers and school administration regarding their education experience at Camp Puh'tok. Listens with sensitivity to all concerns related to each schools education experience and responds in a timely fashion, addressing each concern and implementing change when deemed appropriate. Coordinates with the Executive Director to meet equipment and supply needs for each school group. Maintains and orders all equipment and supplies as approved by the Executive Director. Ensures that all groups participating in Education programs receive first class experience zxand service. Coordinates and communicates with the Property Director for school group needs with regards to camp areas, buildings, and property in general. Travel to schools and coordinate meetings with school administrators and teachers to market our Education program and maximize our capacity. Strives to attain goal for number of schools served set forth by the Executive Director each year, according to budget goals. Strives to improve all aspects of the Education program, utilizing down time between seasons to research and implement improvements and new programs for the following season. Participates in the development and delivery of all Education aspects of summer camp program including managing our summer urban scholar reading program. Reports to Executive Director regarding all responsibilities. Acts as a liaison to all schools participating in the Education Programs. Plans, develops and implements school recruitment/retention strategies, including any required communications for these purposes throughout the year. Responsible for the planning, maintaining, and achieving revenue and expense targets. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending conventions and conferences related to the Education and camping industry as approved by the Executive Director. Acts as a fully participating member of the Y Camp Puh'tok management team which includes the Executive Director, Camp Administrator, Program Director, Development Director, and Camp Property Director. Provides leadership and support for attaining the Association's goals and objectives. Communicates the Y mission and objectives to the community Assists with and fosters strong fundraising through Annual Giving Campaign participation Executes all other tasks assigned by supervisor. Required Skills A keen interest in learning, expanding knowledge and personal development. Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Experience in budget management. Public speaking and customer service experience. Strong background in team management, supervision and leading people. Understanding and willingness to perform marketing, promotional, fundraising and administrative tasks. Required Experience Bachelor's Degree and or equivalent experience in related field. Minimum 5 years of experience in education and/or experience in an organized educational environment. Experience working with children
