We're looking for an Engineering Manager - Head of Performance Technology to join our Technology Development Center in Manhattan. The Engineering Manager - Head of Performance Data Technology will manage and lead the calculation, reporting and distribution efforts of investment performance information data in alignment with the overall Investment Operations business strategy and Integrated Strategic Plan (ISP), to provide exceptional service and meet internal and external requests timely and accurately. The incumbent will build an innovative, customer focused philosophy and create service and quality standards to proactively seek process and operational improvements. The position is also responsible for training, mentoring and talent development of the team, managers and supervisors. The incumbent will bring a software engineering discipline to this role, work with leaders to develop multi-year technical strategy, lead organizational transformation, grow our service globally, and build/maintain stakeholder relationships.. Principal Responsibilities:. Performance Analytics - Work with various data sources to measure investment performance and quantify portfolio manager investment decisions. Participate in meetings with Portfolio Management teams to interpret investment success or pitfalls. Technical skills - Working knowledge of various performance methodologies / analytics (ie attribution, benchmarking, tracking error, and risk decomposition). Product Knowledge - Develop understanding of Global Portfolio Solutions portfolio implementation, asset allocation and tactical tilt solutions. Investment diligence - Collaborate with internal business and front office technology teams, internal operations teams, portfolio management teams, to validate data integrity. Project Management - Work closely with senior portfolio managers on various projects, including assisting with bespoke client requests and client review meetings, driving data governance. Digital Strategy - Work with architecture, and investment operations team to build out digital strategy to build next-generation platform of aggregating and distributing portfolio performance and analytics. Manage day to day team. Oversee client deliverables. Oversee team productivity. Mentor junior staff and provide technical assistance as needed. Required Technical Experience:. Must have performance measurement and multi-asset class product knowledge. 10+ years of relevant work experience. Strong analytical and quantitative skills. Acute attention to detail. Interest in the financial services industry and desire to build knowledge of portfolio management and the markets. Excellent communication skills (including writing, verbal, and presentation). Ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to present and describe analytics to clients. Highly organized; attention to detail and excellent follow-through required. Managerial experience a plus. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. Knowledge of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) is a plus. Required Domain Experience and Soft Skills:. Ability to successfully partner and communicate with all levels of an organization. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively both with IT, with business management and a demonstrated ability to influence and impact the business. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to forge relationships resulting in successful partnerships. Strong negotiation skills, business acumen and customer focused. Experience within Asset Management, Hedge fund or Investment Bank. Confident communicator; able to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views. Enthusiasm for learning & results oriented. Required Education:. Strong academic record and a BA/BS degree with high mathematical and computing content (eg Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Engineering).
