Basic Qualifications Qualifications:Ten (10) years experience as a System Administrator in programs of similar scope, type and complexity is requiredOther Requirements Needed from Labor Category:Minimum of ten (10) years' experience with either UNIX or Windows System Administration, but atleast 5 of those 10 years should be in Linux, to include user account administration, installation and configuration of workstations and peripherals, kernel parameter and disk partition modification, client-server support, software and hardware upgrades, troubleshooting, and shell script programming.Minimum of ten (10) years' experience with Network Information Service (NIS), Network File System (NFS), Domain Name System (DNS), and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).Minimum of ten (10) years' experience with system administration for Linux/Redhat 5, CentOS 6 and Windows 7. 10Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MSCA) or Redhat Certified Technician (RHCT) certification is highly desirable and can substitute for one (1) year experienceOne of the following certifications is desirable: A+, Network+, or System Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)Preferred Skills:Familiarity with Microservices, Linux Containers (Docker), CEPH and KafkaHands-on Hardware and Software installation, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting to include COTS, GOTS, and FOSSVirtualization/Cloud ExperienceBackup/restore hardware, software, processes, implementation including familiarity with COOP methodologiesCisco Switching, Routing and Troubleshooting ExperienceFamiliarity with MicroservicesFamiliarity with Agency software process, inventory, and security plans (SSP's)Experience supporting Application and Database serversKnowledge of Configuration Management build processEducation Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience.Clearance Requirements:Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance with a Polygraph is required at time of hire. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.The Senior System Administrator will have the opportunity to work with the following:Technologies: Microservices, Docker, Kafka, Cassandra, React, Java 8/9, Spring Boot/Cloud/Data, Redis, PostgresTools: Maven, Node, Git, Sonar, Eclipse, Failsafe, Atlassian Jira (Bitbucket, Confluence, Bamboo, Crucible)REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systemsMaintains the integrity and security of servers and systemsServes as a front line interface to users with technical issues Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchasesInteracts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staffConducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training usersServer System Administrator is responsible for leading the day-to-day support of Server services, Operating Systems and physical & virtualized serversResponsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardwareConfigures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on serversPerforms configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting and does analysis of alerts on ServersWork with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems with Server that are effecting other servicesPlans, designs, and implements necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies and procedures for server systemsLead automation efforts to reduce repetitive processes to streamline supportCreates, maintains and manages Disaster Recovery Plans for Physical and Virtual ServersMentors team in technology to allow them to be knowledgeable and self-sufficientWork with manager in understanding and optimizing team performanceAdvocates continuous process improvement Identify needs and investigates solutions of tools in providing enhanced supportInsures architecture is reliable, flexible, integrated and anticipates future needs anticipates future hardware/software needs to meet future business based on customer requirementsLeads reviews and analyzes performance metrics in order to optimize environment for efficiencies.
