Director of CommunicationsJob DescriptionCoStar is seeking a Director of Communications for CoStar Group, its flagship CoStar Suite information and analytics services, and LoopNet. CoStar Group, Inc. is the leading provider of commercial real estate information, analytics and online marketplaces. Our suite of online services enables clients to analyze, interpret and gain unmatched insight on commercial property values, market conditions and current availabilities. LoopNet is the most heavily trafficked commercial real estate marketplace online with over 5 million monthly unique visitors per month.The successful candidate must be a self-starter, someone who likes and wants to do the work, not just manage a team or an agency. This role is responsible for developing and implementing the Company's media and communications strategy and outreach. The position will report to the VP of Public Relations and Investor Relations. The Director will be responsible for corresponding with media, social influencers and content providers, influencers and external/internal stakeholders on major B2B communications initiatives including PR Campaigns, corporate communications and analyst relations, providing oversight and support for a variety of internal and external communications and publications. Key Responsibilities:With the VP of Public Relations and Investor Relations, develop compelling and consistent narrative to promote the reputation of CoStar Group brands and to execute CoStar's overall communications and media strategy for it's commercial real estate products and services.Manage PR activities and create thought leadership strategies to position executives and messaging across all channelsCan oversee global media relations activities including building and managing media relationships, coordinating media interviews and getting press coverage multiple times per weekDevelop press angles aligned with key campaign messages and marketing initiatives Drive strategic planning, core messaging and positioning across traditional and digital channelWork with marketing, and collaborate with the CoStar news team, to develop, launch and manage a monthly client newsletter and streamline regional efforts to create a strong consistent voiceDevelop, gather/write and manage client newsletterWork with company spokespersons to develop story angles, white papers for placement Create a speakers bureau, prepare spokespeople for interviews and provide media training for senior leadership and proactively seek speaking opportunities that leverage thought leadershipIdentify opportunities for and develop by-line articles Create press materials including press releases, backgrounders, press kits and arrange product demos when necessaryMaintain a media monitoring service and monthly analytics reportingDefine optimal metrics and provide accurate measurement of all coverageBuild media databasesBuild and maintain an online newsroomWork closely with the internal communications team and create an employee communications plan with HR to ensure delivery of key corporate messagesActively participate in the development of an internal communications strategy to ensure delivery of key corporate messages and information to employees, including the refresh of the company intranet and regular bi-weekly internal newslettersRespond to rapidly-developing news opportunities, attaining opportunities for CoStar thought leadership contributions Implementation of a weekly podcast programDirect agency team membersDevelop crisis communications processJob RequirementsAt least 10-12 years of experience in journalism or a media relations function Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field and MBAdesired.Experience in the development and implementation of highly effective media/public relations programs that resulted in measurable resultsMust have a significant level of experience in corporate communications, media/public relations or journalism with an emphasis on financial services. Commercial real estate and litigation PR experience a plusA media relations expert who loves to pitch stories at the national and local levelsProven ability to work effectively in a dynamic, rapidly changing, team-based environment with multiple internal decision makers and stakeholdersAbility to quickly gain organizational awareness, learn the business, history, culture and key players Critical, creative, and innovative thinker is a must Essential to have a positive, can-do attitudeExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
